Extended Care for Sustained Recovery

Recovery is not a race. It takes courage to ask for more time to heal, and we’re here to provide the space and structure that makes it possible. Our Extended Care Program is designed for those who would benefit from a longer, more immersive recovery experience—especially if there’s a history of relapse, trauma, or co-occurring disorders.

If you’re ready to delve deeper into emotional and psychological healing, Extended Care at Pavillon provides a supportive environment to strengthen your recovery. Many individuals find that after some time in treatment, they’re truly ready to face and process the core issues behind their addiction. Our Extended Care program provides that opportunity, building on the foundation already established in early recovery. With advanced clinical support and a structured environment, you’ll bolster your coping skills, reinforce healthy routines, and begin integrating lasting change into your life.

What is Extended Care?

Extended Care at Pavillon is a residential program that bridges the gap between primary inpatient treatment and independent living. It’s ideal for those who have completed detox or an initial treatment program but still need additional time to:

  • Strengthen their sobriety foundation
  • Develop relapse prevention strategies
  • Address underlying trauma or mental health issues
  • Practice healthy relationship dynamics
  • Build confidence and life skills before returning home

Extended Care is about real-life readiness. As part of your treatment, you’ll have the opportunity for Extended Therapeutic Leave (ETL), where you temporarily return home to apply what you’ve learned. When you return to Pavillon, you’ll process the experience with your care team—uncovering blind spots, building strategies, and refining your plan for long-term success.

Your journey doesn’t end when you discharge. Through Relapse Prevention Week/Treatment (RPW/T), you can return to Pavillon months later to refresh your skills, reconnect with support, and address challenges that may arise in early recovery. These visits also offer a valuable perspective to those currently in care, showing them what’s possible.

Equine Therapy at Pavillon

One of the unique aspects of our Extended Care offering is Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy. Horses are incredibly intuitive animals and can reflect emotional states and interpersonal behaviors in a powerful, non-verbal way, often revealing beliefs that are difficult to identify in traditional talk therapy. Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy helps clients:

  • Build trust and establish healthy boundaries
  • Recognize patterns in communication, trust, and emotional regulation
  • Work through trauma and self-esteem issues
  • Reconnect with empathy and presence

This experience, conducted under the supervision of trained therapists and equine specialists, often leads to transformative insights and emotional breakthroughs. The non-verbal nature of this therapy allows clients to connect more deeply with themselves and begin healing through honest, present-moment interactions. Sometimes the breakthrough comes when words aren’t needed.

Longer Care. Stronger Foundation.

If you or your loved one could benefit from more time to heal in a supportive, structured environment, our Extended Care Program may be the right fit. It’s a critical investment in lasting recovery—one that supports not just sobriety, but deep, meaningful change.
